WoW Tailoring Guide 1-450

by Spiph

This guide (up-to-date for patch 3.3) will cover training your Tailoring levels from 1 to 450 and what to make while leveling Tailoring in World of Warcraft. Tailoring is a primary profession (of which you can only choose two at any point in the game) and allows your character to create a variety of items such as armor, bags and clothing. Tailoring probably complements the Enchanting profession better than any other, as the items that are crafted with Tailoring can be disenchanted to provide materials for Enchanting. This guide focuses on making the training path easier by using patterns that can be learned from Tailoring trainers and patterns with the most easily obtained materials. It also looks to make the items that are Green or better quality, as these can then be disenchanted. Unless stated otherwise, all the patterns used in this guide can be purchased for an Enchanting Trainer of appropriate level.

Specialization

Level 60 Character required
After reaching level 350 in Tailoring, it is possible to choose a specialization. While any character with a sufficient level in tailoring is able to create any of the speciality cloths, specializing in one of them allows your character to produce twice as much cloth for the same materials cost. It is only possible to have one of the three specializations at any time, but there is the option to unlearn your current specialization and learn a new one.

For Primal Mooncloth/Moonshroud complete the quest Becoming a Mooncloth Tailor with: Nasmara Moonsong in Lower City, Shattrath
Primal Mooncloth can be created at any moonwell
Moonshroud can only be created in the Emerald Dragonshrine, Dragonblight

For Shadowcloth/Ebonweave complete the quest Becoming a Shadoweave Tailor with: Andrion Darkspinner in Lower City, Shattrath
Shadowcloth can only be created in the Alter of Shadows, Shadowmoon Valley
Ebonweave can only be created at the Obsidian Dragonshrine, Dragonblight (at the mouth of the ‘Maw of Neltharion’ cavern)

For Spellcloth/Spellweave complete the quest Becoming a Spellfire Tailor with: Gidge Spellweaver in Lower City, Shattrath
Spellcloth can be created anywhere in the Netherstorm zone
Spellweave can only be created at the Azure Dragonshire, Dragonblight

Moonshroud, Ebonweave and Spellweave require your character to have at least level 415 in Tailoring before they can be created. After creating any of these three speciality cloth types there is a four day cooldown before that cloth type can be created again.

I hoped you found this WoW Tailoring Leveling Guide useful and that it has helped you on your way to level 450. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

i have heard that there are some cloth armor items that can only be worn by the maker. is there any truth to this? if so, which items? thanks

As far as I know all tailor-made cloth armor items are Bind on Equip (BoE). However, Tailors do have the option of adding embroidery/spellthread enchants to items, and doing so makes them soulbond. Also, the Flying Carpets can only be used by characters with the Tailoring profession.

Any of the 3 specs is best for a priest? Helpfull guide tbh.Thank you.

It depends on where your talents are focused. Common opinion is Mooncloth/Moonshroud for a Holy Priest, Spellfire/Spellweave for a Discipline Priest and Shadoweave/Ebonweave for a Shadow Priest.
