WoW Herbalism Guide 1-450

by Spiph

This WoW guide (up-to-date for patch 3.3) will cover training your Herbalism levels from 1 to 450 and what herbs to pick while leveling Herbalism in World of Warcraft. Herbalism is one of the 3 primary gathering professions, and gathering professions tend to provide a strong gold income. Herbalism complements the Alchemy and Inscription professions very well, as Herbalism provides the raw materials required for these professions. Herbalism also grants the passive trait Lifeblood, which provides a heal over time abilty (details at the end of this guide).

In order to find herbs to pick, enable the Find Herbs option on your minimap, by right-clicking on the icon second from the top on the left hand side of the minimap and selecting Find Herbs.
If the herb can be picked it will have a color coded property that shows this when you hover your mouse pointer over it.
Red – Herbalism level not yet high enough to pick this herb
Orange – High chance of increasing Herbalism level when picking this herb
Yellow – Moderate chance of increasing Herbalism when picking this herb
Green – Low chance of increasing Herbalism level when picking this herb
Gray – No chance of increasing Herbalism level when picking this herb

If you click on any of the herb links in the guide you will be taken to a Wowhead page that provides you with maps for every zone that herb can be found in. I figured this would be more useful than cluttering this guide with a map of every zone for every herb, and it gives folks the option to choose the zone that suits them.

I decided to wait on my herbalism until I was in my mid sixties so I wouldn’t waste too much time as I was leveling stopping for herbs. I found the guide to be awesome, it nice to click the links and see the best place for farming, or even an alternate area that may have a decent amount of drop zones. This guide made the trek so much easier with the step by steps…..NICELY DONE!! I was able to go from 1 to 300 in one day of running the template….

I farmed Stranglekelp successfully along the coastline of Westfall as well. At least a dozen nodes there.

Character level requirements are different for gathering and crafting professions. For gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining & Skinning) the character level requirement for Artisan is 25. For crafting professions the character level requirement for Artisan is 35.

It can be gathered from Frost Lotus plants in Wintergrasp. It also drops when gathering all other Northrend herbs, but the drop rate is about 5%.
